Season 4. Episode 5. Amanda Preacher tells us about her spiritual journey and how she helps others

Talking with Amanda Preacher was a fascinating time! It all started for her with a crystal.  She took it home and one day saw geometric patterns in it.

From there, she began to study angel therapy,  and followed a  path from traditional counselor to spiritual practitioner.

 She offers her clients a wonderful mix of tools she has learned along the way -- angel communications, reiki (she is a Master), shamanic journeying, and more!  From her website:
Amanda has been involved with several forms of energy work over the last 35 years. She is a trained Reiki Practitioner and also has training as an Angel Therapy Practitioner, Soul Memory Discovery Facilitator and Shamanic Counselor.

Hello, you've reached the storied human podcast hosted by me Lynne Thompson. Each week I share a story, either an interview with someone fascinating, or short solo from me. I love your stories, and I learned so much from them. Hopefully you will too. So welcome. If you are new here, I'm so happy to have you. If you are a returning listener, many thanks. So here it is the next episode of the storied human my guest Amanda preacher is a practicing Reiki master. She is an angel interpreter. And she was a counselor for many years, she helped people with addiction and other issues. The story of how she made her way through her spiritual experiences. And what she learned along the way to help people is really interesting and fun. Because she does so many different things. And she cares so much about people. I just really love talking to her. So I give you teacher, practitioner, reiki master, Amanda preacher. So tell me about how you know what you're going to tell me about the crystal, your first crystal, you know, when I'm showing you in my early 20s, I worked for Federal Express and a friend of mine that worked with me at this very large quartz crystal it came up very high. Wow. By this day, he's raised triangles all over. What is that we're all perfectly precision, little triangles all over the face, and then on all sides, and so on. And I found that it was a record keeper. And then I looked at record keepers. And it was amazing to me, the level exceeded and opened up, you know, Crystal would like I have to add these, I feel are basically at that time and 2005 I went to an angel therapy practitioner course with Doreen Virtue. And she says moved on, which is a shame. But I would like to see so much about my energy field, my whole relationship with how I can read angel cards. I have many of them in one thing can lead to another to another to a meeting. And I felt guided the entire complex that we had their hand on my finger moving me through many years into training that I didn't practice with them, when I got into him again in stayed with them for a very long time. But he got too busy when life got too busy. You know what I thought? You know, and so during that time, I got sober in 1989 and are 34 years right now. So the installations that's huge. Thank you that makes a difference in how you deal with people. And inherently you were to the we clean all that stuff out. Have for the rest of the spiritual healing to begin in place things in your life that helping you. So that's what I did. I went to the angel therapy practitioner course got certified, and then did a course called Saudi discovery facilitator. So as a full member, I discovered and I worked with karmic issues. And I worked with the LSU in the in our schools, and I worked with a lot of different things. And they ended up being a three hour session that I was doing young people because it lasted so long to get all that it was like not working. People can't sustain three hours of their Wow. Yeah. So I got to split it up. And it's just getting really long that warmer and all the common bits held us back and all that the chronic issues that we came from our parent Wilson for Americans and Europeans, generations, right? Yeah, generations. Times when you can almost feel that, you know, there's certain things in our lives, they feel way heavier than just this life. Oh, for sure. Other people feel it would have been heavier than I could almost there. Yeah, you know. So I just got into so many discoveries and started working with Dan and that opened up all kinds of avenues and ways of thinking and the history and cosmology of the real world. And you know, how we operate more room is just amazing to me. Excited to go to these monthly sessions with my spiritual mentor, and, and she was a Jewish woman and as a rabbi, so I learned a lot about and the books the one that is often Ebola, yeah, combat. Well, yeah. Kabbalah and about different Jewish, basically, skies. What was going on all the time, the the Jewish community or the Jewish religion is getting carried into God, obviously, but also into the mysticism that lies underneath the telescopio. So I love them and finding the secret and finding ways to help people the best I can. For them was I got into it, and then a couple of years ago, it was a few years ago, and became shamanic counselor, Andrew, Boston, in a record for a week in the show. Steve found a few quick demonics 30 Oh, Michael Powell is going from New York yet they're fantastic. Teach people how to journey. Yeah, I know, it's a commitment from them, because it's once a week for five weeks only. That's just like brief therapy. Yeah. nutritional journey, and then you write down what they're experiencing, because it'll begin to leak, you know, I put headphones on with the dreaming. And then Oh, cool. I've done this. It's very powerful. Yeah. Funny story about that. Okay. I was in a week long class with a Celtic Shaman. And she, I really resonated with her because that's my, my genetic background. And I've had readings that say I come from this weird place in Ireland or whatever, suddenly, I loved her. She was great. But she would often give us a question. Or she would give us like a little something to do on the journey. So one of the journeys was try to meet your power animal. And so we journeyed and we were offered, like under the ground or up into the sun, whatever we liked, and I liked under the ground. And I could picture it, like, I could see the roots of the trees and the plants. It was very real to me. And all of a sudden, my cat who died like when he four years ago, came in front of me, and he had a big fat face. And I was so happy, I almost cried because I loved him so much. I couldn't believe he was there. And I mean, somebody who doesn't understand this probably thinks I made it up. But it wasn't. It was so such a surprise. And he accompanied me on the journey. And that's what he used to do when he was alive. He would he was unusual. My mother used to call him my familiar because he would come he would come outside with me and stay by my side. I've recently learned that that's spiritually significant. But I didn't know that I just knew I loved him. So when I got done with the journey, I said, Oh my gosh, I don't really have a power animal. But my cat from my childhood came and she goes, Well, we don't get that very often. But it wasn't my first hint that he was special. And so yes, the shamanism it was very powerful. I, I just loved. You know what I love about it the most. It's similar all around the world, and it's really old. 1000s of years old, like our psychology is only like 150 years old. So I trust it. And I love that you do that for people that they have the drumming in their ears and that you help them journey and find people. I think people are probably like I was that first time where I was almost afraid to believe it. Yeah. Start to think like they can be real, because I be so funny because we're very similar. I'm 61 Which by the way, so My grandmother came from Galway Ireland and I haven't been there yet, but that's the place I want to go. You gotta go. Yeah, I do. But but the thing is when I was when I was getting trained, and I was going into my own journeys I like to the way when I went to the upper room the knee I would get there is a huge pain apart there used to live. Yeah. I would envision life interesting to me, because this is what just happened. running towards the tree and diving into the root system, and going all through the system, you know, coming down and land on brown bears bear belly. So brown bears my spirit guide from the Garr duffel, which is really significant. Oh, my gosh, yeah. So I understand what you're saying about the Ganesh shamanic experience, it seems like everybody should at least experienced one time. Yeah. It would be because you didn't get an answer to your questions. And that's what we do. What we're looking for, yeah, that's looking for that kind of thing. This was years ago, and it's a little more accepted now. And I've literally read articles about, there are certain places like mental health facilities that allow shamans to work in tandem with, you know, traditional medicine, and it works. It's amazing to me, that they're allowing that but I think that maybe, you know, some people, the attitudes have shifted, we've been so powerful because they're both working like the Western and the shamans. It's just, it's so funny to me that we, we don't want to admit that there's another, you know, side, there's another dimension there's sphere. Yeah, yeah. We're, we're based at certain way. And so you have to, like, undo that. I had weird stuff happened ever since I was a little girl, did you? I had weird traumatic things happen. But apparently, reading the book, I was gonna ask you, if you had a book, you should definitely have a book on writing going on a survivor's guide to trauma throughout your life. And also, to open up to energy medicine. I want to bring that into the book too, and how it changed my life. But my favorite is the room is a place where the light enters you love that. That's where the light is going to come in and, and heal, you know, so because so connection, it. You're so compassionate, and empathetic because of all the suffering is, you know, it does do something for you. I feel the same way. I was just interested in more interesting things that happened to you. Oh, that I knew. And my great grandma died. Like, the minute she died, I looked to the west and I saw the sun setting. And that's where she was she was in Pennsylvania, and I'm in New Jersey. And I said grandma died. I was 14. And I would often know, with my mother, I was very intuitive and would know, I would read her mind all the time. Like I'm a receiver. I'm definitely a receiver. So I would read her mind all the time. And it was just very minor and we would laugh about it. But it was there from the start. I would just pick up on it'll just come to me what someone is actually thinking about her thought, like I it's just frightening how it doesn't happen all the time. But it's been it's been an interesting ride. Because often, I don't, I don't pursue it. But I almost always say something to someone that they needed to be. They needed to have had me say it so they would open up. We intuitively know what to talk about. And I don't think about it. It just happens. Yeah. I completely understand that. You don't know me percent because I been gifted somehow. My birthday is 1111. Really? That's amazing. That's pretty cool. But I always got the good counselors that drug and alcohol counseling because first of all, I could relate to them, and they could relate to me. Second of all, I So, for the people I've worked with, and I can tell what they were going to see, I could tell what was gonna happen. I already knew they had used if they came in and they said they already knew they did that for that kind of thing. So I really understand that. The thing is, it doesn't frighten me. I'm just curious as to why it doesn't frighten me. I just have. I'm not afraid of it. I'm just afraid of bringing it into my full regular life. You know, so. But oh, my gosh. Probably a shaman. You do so Roman. I've been? I've been avoiding that. But I probably am. Yeah. Yeah. Because it might be difficult. Yes. Somebody said that to me. Yeah. We have a difficult life because we have to learn from each situation and event that happens in our life. So they can help other people. And not always told me that, yeah, I wouldn't have some illnesses. And she said, there's a reason that you're going through these. That's so interesting that you said that you said something else that I wanted to comment on. My mom was a counselor, and she ended up doing mica clients, which is mentally ill chemically addicted. Yeah, the dregs of society, like nobody wants to do a crack. But she did that. And she said something you said she said, I could tell in an instant if they were using I could tell. And I would tell them, you know, the rule. I don't talk to you if you're using. And she just like, you could. Yeah, that's not easy to do. Unless you have that extra something. Yeah. No. Well, that comes from my experience completely. Yes. drinkers. I understood how you can get when you're drinking. Yes. Even though you want help, and you're trying to get the help? That demon is on your back constantly? Yes, you really have to, in engross yourself in people that are supportive people that are positive people that are valued and not friend, which is really very hard. And so I will be kind of a tough counseling with people because I do stuff all the time. Like no work. Right now. Nobody? Yeah. The truth because I'm not going to do anything. Beginning. People need that they're not going to get anywhere unless somebody straight with them. Yeah. Well, when they were honest with me of like, compassion for them, when somebody, you know, just want to help them. I don't want to enable them. I don't want them to become dependent on me for anything. Yeah, I can guide them and show them the way. Yeah, you need to go. Obviously, for 21 years, and you got out of a because it says in the big book of AAA, to be really, it's a big thick book they have. And that's what I'm seeing, these are all the steps are and and it says in there that you're supposed to mainstream when she gets down your recovery into mainstream into the real. And a lot of times people that are drinking or using will get depending on the meeting. And then we'll go out to see if we can handle certain things. So after 21 years, I learned what I needed to learn. And I don't in any way shape or form crave alcohol. And the third thing is is something to say about that, you know, and I'm grateful for that. But that opened me up once I got read about addiction and again, to get my head together again. Yeah, opened up my mind and I opened up my heart and it was like home unlimited potential, working metaphysic to help people to do whatever I can do. That's what I want to learn so much. In such a journey. I love how you just followed it. You know, one thing led to another very strong in my life. So I wanted to ask you something about the alcoholism because I understand spiritually. People believe that when you're cut off from source, that's when you're prey to these things like you know, the demon of alcohol that the disease do you feel like that's part of it, like you have to find that connection again. You know, it's a it's a touchy subject because a lot of people don't go to AAA because of it. God is mentioned. Right? I have a really big definition of that. Right. I noticed you do too, when you're my whole concept of doing. Yeah, me too. Doctor, so I had 100 Oh, you had like an interesting, yeah. My husband was raised Catholic, he calls himself a recovering Catholic. I'm recovering from Southern Baptist. I'll tell you that, because I've never seen so much hatred and animosity is awful when I was a kid growing up, is terrible. Because yeah, you don't need that negative stuff. When you're so tender hearted, you know, you're so young. It used to be into third grade all the time when I was a kid. Know that, God, higher power, or energy, whatever you want to call it. It is all energy. It is all God it is. Perspective. Every person that you should dumping in worshiping God. Like, worship him, it was like, no one ever thinks that. But yeah, we all have the freedom to choose because God gave us more choice than otherwise, what would it mean if you didn't have a choice, right? So I had a choice, I run out the conference. But I changed my whole concept of like, Oh, my God can't be punishing my God, oh, my God is all loving, no matter who I am, what I do. My God works no matter what. And I want to be better for my God. You know, my power, I want to be a better person. And so I pray for that a lot. You know, I pray to be a good person and to let go of any of the animosity. No, because I have been things I'm dealing with. You know, I've been in therapy for many years. I'm not in right now. But I know we need to work on stuff. Yeah. That's right. Well, yeah, you can do it on yourself. So I'm dying to ask you a million questions. But I wanted to get back to the aunt, the angel practitioner. Yeah. I want to know more about that. And I think my listeners don't know much about that. Well, it was I was starting to do the two books on ANGEL therapy. Domestic buying old records and started looking through the cards and reading angel cards in Laguna Beach, and she was offering Angel therapy. My son at the time were to reach a bear. I don't know if it was just a weekend or a week. So it must have been the whole week. What was trying to talk to the archangels and what they stand for angel cards. I learned that unwinds one because she would do it in a big chair and people would come up to her and they would say Who am I and what am I achieving? intuitively say the fcr one one or yes your angel or your big Saturday other and I believe my wife how my wisdom has helped me. So I when I was there, we had ceremonies and the angel practitioner that had gone and taken the courseware around us surrounding us with their energy holding space and a lot of money ideas and got really into working with angels in hounded can help her anything reading I've heard this before and you have to ask you are doing over time Archangel Michael, please protect me as I drive and those around me. I've seen that really tell my journey. Yeah. So it's like I just learned a lot about how angels communicate with us. And then I started seeing the signs again, like the the people for Archangel, Michael, Archangel Michael and then green for Archangel Raphael. You know, I really learned about angels and how they be in helping. And so I love my angel wasn't just me constantly. They're always showing you they're around. And I'm so grateful for that. And I've met people who are in a forum or person in Egypt. You know, when I was I had cancer in 19 Maybe he is lymphoma. And I had to go through six months of chemo five weeks to radiation. Gosh. So I had to feed my hand, because my hair was falling out. So I shaved my head because I was like, I'm not going to let it do that I'm going to design. Yeah. You know, I was like this guy was out one time, in one week, even this nation or town where you can go shopping, and I was in a shop, it's been one of the spirit, self conscious about having no hair. And this woman walked up to me, he came out of his sidewalk became one of our students. We are absolutely beautiful. 100% beautiful. And I started crying. And my son was here and we were talking and it was like we turn around and so I knew that person's job was to tell me that now the issues around feeling so self conscious. And I gotta for word. You know, I had a perfectly shaped period. Thank God. Oh, yeah, I always say that. That does help my friend. She lost her hair. And she had the cutest head. You're reminding yourself about it. Oh, tell me real quick. It's such a short story. I really only the coffee shop one time. And a woman table right next to the line. And that was a very angry person when I had cancer because I was angry at the cancer. Yeah. I finally wrote to him. I said, What are you looking at? And he said, he's sorry. And then I turned around and did some work to turn around, got my coffee went to speakers meeting. So I left the speaker's meeting. We know what these are this way one person speaks. And it's just a bunch of people listening. Oh, yeah. Yeah. So let me get through the speaker. Screen back. He was a charger. He was at the meeting. And he was a speaker because he was a builder of three lanes. He never leaves out exam looking at you. I said no. He said, because he's so beautiful. I tried to use the facial features were so beautiful, that I had to stare across I felt this thing, you know, that I learned from that experience? You know, I learned not to jump the gun at people. Yeah, that's so that's a beautiful tale. Both those stories, you reminded me of a friend of mine who said, she made me think so differently about what casual people say to you. She said, I think sometimes God is speaking through them. Same kind of idea, like God is speaking through them. And they tell you just what you need to hear. And I've always been amazed at how like a cashier can bring up something like when I lost my mom really suddenly and way too soon. She just brought up something that I just I said, Oh, it's something my mom used to buy. And she goes, Oh, did you lose your mom? This is somebody a stranger, right? And I said, Yeah, I said, Now I'm part of that club you don't want to be part of and I laughed and she goes, I know, I know. And she just started talking to me. God was talking to passion. And I said, I got out of there. And I was like, I know that I've been blessed with I was just so like, confused. I said, I know I've been blessed by her. I don't know how or why but what a beautiful thing. And yeah, something happened recently that I'll tell you after the interview, because a long thing but do get it like I've been more open now. And God is using me more to help people you're putting me putting me in certain places. And I have just the right skill set. Yeah. Which is such a beautiful thing. So do you talk about ascension or do you believe in the ascension of the Earth and how we're moving from 3d to five d it was discovery was about finding because that's where we would tend to vote. Virtually we would mingle on the fifth dimension. It is known that we are getting lighter. The veil between the Afternoon is getting better. And especially around this time it can communicate with mothers, you can communicate with the angels, you can communicate with them, and they will listen to you, they will hear you. And they will act accordingly to what you need. As long as you you know, to ask. Yeah, but it's it's an amazing thing I truly believe in ascension, and I believe, you know, all the political drama and all the things that are happening in the world leading towards ascension, because destruction has to happen, right? Leaving the planet in huge amounts. Yes. And I read things are not getting worse. They're getting revealed. Yeah. And that just resonated with me. Because that's how I feel. I feel like things that I read about secrets that I kind of knew about that. Everybody thought I was nuts. And my family and I stopped talking about it. But it's starting to be revealed. And now I also see much more compassion on the internet. I see these beautiful stories about people with animals and little babies and different species of animals. I don't remember seeing that that much. And open that up. Yeah, there's, there's more. They said, there's just more and more people feeling more positive and putting out that energy. And so I noticed it this weekend with there was a little nine year old girl that was snatched from a campground in upstate New York. And everybody was upset, everybody's usually upset. But this was like another level. And they found her. And they talked about how they found her and what they did. Everybody was celebrating. Like, I just don't remember everybody feeling like, because when you're like us, that's that's one thing that's been a little unsettling. For me. It's like I cry all the time. Now, when I feel other people's pain in a way that it never, I never have. And so now I'm seeing it. Even on TV, like the reporter was so happy she was found and they were talking about the Great job everyone did. And I just see a difference. I feel this positive, uplifting. We want all these increased light to the planet. Everybody that is enlightened, includes the light to the planet. The angels are busy making and working on the fifth dimension stuff. And they're helping us to achieve ascension. And you have to shed all the other stuff to get to people like in 911 All those people need to leave the planet at the same time. All people volcanoes and meridians and all that they all agreed in their souls being the planet at the same time. Yeah, I think that it's necessary, first of all, these criminal people in general, and that's why I'm not paying people to die. I'm just getting a lot of people in the world that we need guidance. Yes. You know, and I think more people are opening up to the spiritual part, because they're all looking for God and their understanding. Yes, we're looking for God in order to do where everything is going on. Oh, that makes so much sense. Yeah, yeah. For sure. I mean, I know that people are always looking at their purpose, or their reason. Or they're wondering, why is this happening? You know, and the lines are getting painted with these, these. You know, people that come into their life, that are about opportunities and metaphysics and spirituality, all these positive things are starting to come out more and more. And you think it's a beautiful thing? I do, too. Yeah. It's a beautiful thing. That so many people agree to leave at the same time, because it's usually a tragedy, which you can always make a positive thing in your life. So I understand that they were on the same level. That was going to be the day they chose to go, I feel God. I feel all kinds of hope today. Yeah, I do. And at some point, I just I said to myself, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to talk over you. At some point I just said God is so much bigger than we were taught as children. God is so much bigger and It's really hard to grasp that everything that happens, even the horrible things are all part of it. And that's sort of what you're speaking to. And it's, it's hard to get there with our human brains. I like thinking about it. I like trying to think you know, because I realize it's, it's all meant to happen, rather than the horrible things. And we don't have the bigger picture. Somebody told me this great quotation. I wish I knew the person that said it. But she said, Life is a beautiful tapestry. But we can only see behind it, we can only see the struggle colored yarns, we don't see the design. And that just hit me like a ton of bricks. There, there is a fine design. Yeah, it is. And it's not, you know, I've heard people say such tiny things about, you know, how could this bad thing happen? And this must mean this. And it's like, no, one of the things you have to be comfortable with it. You know, when when you're talking about all this god stuff? Is that some things you just don't know? You might not, you can't see you don't know. And you have to you have to hold that you have to accept that, that we really do have to accept it because it is yeah, no acceptance. So I want you to talk if you don't mind a little bit about how things are coming up for people because I know that's part of the process of ascending as you've got to face your demons, your you know, your your hurts your your things you've done wrong to other people, whatever's bubbling up, you have to deal with it. It's not fun. It's been happening for me a lot of memories out of nowhere. Coming up. Yeah. If you could talk about that a little bit. You know, when I work with people, like over there wants you to work on his darkness in clear his kinetic childhood experiences. a one to one shot at cooling, your chakras isn't just going to do it, it's not going to do it. So I'm giving this much of my metaphysical background into the second as I can, like, give a free reading on the quartz crystals underneath the table. I make sure they're comfortable. I have all my tools and you know, my way of doing everything, I do so much in a second. That begins to open them up. And they start to realize, you know, okay, maybe you're thinking, I don't know if he's gonna want more than one question, but I have a feeling he will if he's willing to work on his childhood issues. To get therapy. I'm not a doctor. I don't claim any medical miracles by Reiki I just do it does no harm. And it also with Western medicine, here's an article from the International Association for Reiki practitioner and Reiki actually diminishing the symptoms of Ms. That's a major breakthrough right there. That's unbelievable. Yeah, I haven't been to Colorado what she's doing in her own questioning of things and she's gotten onto something that makes her believe she's gonna want to hear I believe. So I've done a couple of times and I can do decently the owner and you know, I do that with dogs, cats, whatever, I can do disagree, or any sane people come to me it's really traumatic stuff. Or if there's something different now you may want to improve that she might have seen much from my, my expertise, because she had severe traumatic issues happen. And you know, I can do as much as I can do and open the channel through me, and that's Archangel Uriel that I count on for that. So I'll call on Archangel Uriel to get the Reiki or he will be through to the point I was going to ask you to tell us just a little bit more about Reiki because some of us don't know the the details in there you you went ahead and told us a little bit more. I've always wanted to be Reiki master and I am feels great because we it's the most amazing healing true that I've come across. It's amazing. And it shows anyone that I work with my master teacher, and we do different things. It's fun to be able to meet the energy industry, we're actually coming together after all the years I've been in metaphysics, to see it all come together by working with crystals and working with tuning forks and whatever else I can put into my, you know, my bag of tricks. You know, I'm all about trying to help people, I just want people to understand that Reiki is energy. You know, just but it's energy work with energy or made up of energy. Instead a beautiful combination with western lands. Yeah, it does kind of make sense, doesn't it? Well, yeah. I mean, you've had a chance to know how to how did you How do you know? Or how did you get connected to Uriel, the angel, the angel Uriel? Well, I was doing my run into, because there's three levels we can mess with through. So what do you say to that? I'm meditating during class. And there was a reason we were doing this was to find out what Archangel we could work with. As a senior meditating, Archangel Uriel just showed up. And he was the one that if he's the one that said that, you know, I'm gonna help you. So today, we're doing Reiki.
